North Springs High School is proud to announce it’s new Baseball coach. Former Lassiter High assistant coach Matt Gershon will lead the North Springs Spartans Baseball program after the sudden departure of Coach Wally Pritchard. Pritchard resigned in early June to pursue an opportunity at Jones County HS which is minutes from his home.
Gershon brings fourteen years of coaching experience both as a head coach and assistant. Prior to his stop at Lassiter, Coach Gershon was an assistant baseball coach at state power Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Arizona. Since moving to Georgia he has made stops as an assistant at Berkmar HS and Tucker HS. Coach Gershon was the head varsity coach at Druid Hills HS from 2010-2012. While leading the Druid Hills program, Gershon compiled a 34-44 overall record, a 25-22 region record, sent five players on to play collegiate baseball, and led efforts for significant baseball facility upgrades. Coach Gershon has also coached at the collegiate level in the Arizona Collegiate Wood Bat League and the Great South League.
After a month long national search, North Springs athletic director Lamarr Glenn found his guy. “Coach Gershon’s coaching resume stood out due to the amount of head and assistant coaching experience with some pretty reputable programs. His passion for building a program and teaching the game of baseball to young men really made him the right for North Springs,” said AD Glenn. Coach Gershon will join the Spartan faculty as a physical education teacher this fall.
