Tuesday Feb. 5 the Spartan boys opened their regular season with a dangerous  Stone Mountain team.

North Springs took control of the game early pressuring the Pirates with a relentless attack and a tenacious defense which continued the entire game.

North Springs out shot the Pirates 10-6, 3 corners to 1.  Stone Mountain played an aggressive defense but that pressure paid dividends for the Spartans.  St. Mtn. was called for 2 fouls in the box resulting in PK ‘s for the Spartans. Vincente Marrow converted cleanly at 31:24.  In between the 2 Pk’s, Ryan Kaplin fired a shot in the net at 18:26 for a 2-0 lead.  At 10:08 left in the 1st half Simon Ben-Moshe PK  was blocked by the Pirate keeper but was unable to control the ball and Simon followed up on the misplay and put the ball in the goal for a big 3-0 lead.

The Spartans came out attacking in the 2nd half and 7 minutes in, Simon Ben-Moshe,  assisted by Omar Lopez put the Spartan up 4-0.

Spartans outshot the Pirates 17 – 7, corners 11 – 1, fouls 4 – 11

Charlie Jose and Jerry Nazario combined in goal for the shut out.

Next game is Friday February 8 at 7A Wheeler High.
