Spartans News · JV Boys Soccer moves to 2-0

Thursday night the JV Boys Soccer team traveled to Wheeler High to face the Wildcats.  Wheeler was bigger, stronger, faster.  The Wildcats had the Spartans back on their heels during the first 10 minutes controlling play and appeared just a matter of time before Wheeler would find the back of the net.  Poor shots by Wheeler and some outstanding defense by the Spartans, and keeper play by Tyler Kingsby, the Wildcat’s were held at bay.  Slowly North Springs was able to get their game going and moved the ball to their end of the field and getting their own chances.

The Spartans took the lead with a goal at 22:48 in the half for 1-0 lead. As the first half play continued it was turning into a battle.

Both teams would look like they were all set to take control but the other team would step up and take control.  But once again the Spartan working together found the net again with 17:23 left in the half to take a 2-0.

It looked like the 1st half would end 2-0 but the Wildcats kept attacking and with just 2.3 seconds left in the half were able to get off a shot from the left side which got pass the Spartan keeper  to make the score 2-1.

The 2nd half was a fierce battle between both team.  Each team was continuously turning their opponent away.  Wheeler came out even more aggressive in the 2nd half but the Spartan juniors played like SPARTANS did not back off but stepped up their play.  Wheeler was working to get the game tied and North Springs was looking to get that extra goal to seal the game.  The fans in attendance were really into the play of both teams.

As the end of the game was approaching the Spartan were able to have the ball on their end of the field and were able to hold on for a most exciting 2-1 win.

Congratulations to the Boys Junior Varsity Soccer team.

Next game is Monday February 11 at North Springs vs Dunwoody
