In another big win tonight the Spartans hosted the Eagles from South Cobb. The Spartans came out firing and never looked back. The team was disciplined in running their plays and moving the ball well against a fairly new team and coaching staff. Nearly everyone got to take the field in tonight’s contest. A number of young faces had a chance to show their stuff and they did not disappoint. The scoring breakdown was 18 goals and 12 assists for a total of 30 points on the night. Leading the scoring was Carlton Colley with four, followed by Jake Rubin, JD Kilbourn and Charlie Turner each contributing a hat-trick and single goals each from Jackson Cohen, Alex Effron, Nath Hayes, Pete Klafter and Pierce Canning. On the assists, Rubin had three, Cohen, Plumly and Kilbourn offered in a pair each and single assists came from Colley, Klafter, and Turner. (Senior Jake Rubin hit the 50 goal mark for the season tonight, by the way!)
The South Cobb team is a new program with a lot to learn, but we can be very proud of our Spartans for the class they showed this team in treating them with respect and encouragement as they try to build a new program – it was a great night of lacrosse!
We head on to “rival week” as we take on Dunwoody away on Tuesday and Riverwood at home on Thursday.
Another big stat is that tonight, the Spartans went to 9-4, tying the school record for the most wins in a season (9), and that was accomplished when Coaches Baker, Fancher and Turner played together in 2010! GO SPARTANS!!
