It was a tough night for the Spartans after a week since their last game coupled with some time off and 40+ degree temperature swing.
The game was close early on with the Spartans only giving up a couple of goals in the first period. However, the scored 4 in both the 2nd and 3rd quarters and then 7 in the final to amass 17 total.
The Patriots defense held our normally high-scoring offense to only 1 goal in the first half, and the Spartans finally got something started in the final quarter, putting up 6 goals, but it was too little, too late – final score 17-7.
Makowski had 11 saves on the night and on the offensive side of the ball Jake Rubin scored 3, Carlton Colley contributed 2 goals and 3 assists, and Charlie Turner and Pete Klafter each had a goal a piece.
The Spartans return home on Thursday night to face Norcross at 7:00, after the girls game. Come out and cheer for both teams.
