The chilly weather Monday evening did not affect either team’s bats as North Springs and Sprayberry pounded out a combined 27 hits in a 15-14 shootout ending in North Springs’ favor. After jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead, the Spartans fell behind 11-3 after three innings. North Springs then responded with 12 runs over the next three innings to take the lead back for good. The game ended with Buck Olson hitting Simon Gersten on a perfect one hop throw and scoop to prevent the tying run from scoring for Sprayberry. The Spartans’ offense was led by Zack Leaf (4 for 4 with 3 RBI), Ross Reynolds (3 for 4 with 2 RBI), and Simon Gersten (2 for 4 with 3 RBI).
